I've bought a dovetail jig like the one in the picture. The manual is very lacking in details and I didn't get any fittings or template guides with it. Exchange or return is unfortunately not an option.

I would like to see pictures and dimensions of the guides, if anyone can help me.

Thanks

The Rockler jig looks like the same one. Here is a link to their instruction manual.

The clamps remind me more of the PC jig. It's all in how you line up your workpieces. The PC manual might be worth a read, it's confusing at first but has good tips on adjusting the fit. And the advanced manual goes over angled dovetails and using the template off the base for larger projects.

is the best manual I've seen on this style jig. With it, I can setup and cut perfect HB DTs in 30 minutes. Here's one place you can d-load. Grizzly..

BTW, I've used mine for vanity/kitchen drawers for years and it's my first choice for them.

Try a 14 degree, 1/2" dovetail bit and a 7/16" OD template guide. That's what most of the jigs like this one seem to use.

Thanks for the help, things are looking much better now. I managed to make an almost acceptable dovetail box. Another 5 years apprenticeship and I should be there.:)

Here's a link to a good 'generic' discussion on the use of that type of jig.

This was a great thread for me! I have one of the jigs of this design and I have never really been successful in using it. After reading the manual that Joe referenced I now know the mistakes I have made. Thanks to all, maybe, just maybe I can make this jig work for me.
