I'm not really much for miniatures, but I've found that venturing into the world of burls is a costly one. Consequently, some of the blocks of wood I've bought will be 'turned' into miniatures. I think this is a Red Gum, but definately Aussit burl, about 3 x 2.5 inches. 2 wheel buffed, Ren waxed.

Great finish. I love the top, but I might like to see the bottom taper down to a slightly smaller size. All in all, it's a cool piece.

You are on a roll, Mike!! I got a bunch of the Aussie burls, and just wasn't man enough for them! Sold them to another creeker. I like this one, but I see what David is saying - perhaps a gentle taper/curve to a smaller base.

Really nice vase and I agree that more taper to a smaller bottom would work better.

Real pretty little vase Mike! Great color! I like the form on this one. Stylized and functional at the same time.

Nice work!

That is great form. I love the small details on the surface. This is one of those that would look really big if you hadn't included reference points in the picture. Nice work.
