I scored two very large apple trees from my MIL as they were in the line of some new fencing going up. I've been meaning to get to them and I wish I had opened them up earlier. It is the most beautiful apple wood I've ever seen. Now I have to hurry up and get it all turned before it starts to crack on me. bowl is 10" x 3"h. Finished in walnut oil.
All comment welcome.

great bowl. If all the wood is that figured then you will have a lot of nice turnings.

That's some really beautiful wood. It's a nice looking bowl as well. Looking forward to seeing the rest of it in turned form.

Great looking bowl!
Keep us posted on your efforts to get the wood roughed out and dried. I am intrigued by the different drying processes people use...trying to learn you know...

That is a piece that you really highlighted the features of the wood. Lovely piece.

I have to agree that it is the most beautiful apple wood I've ever seen also. Nice shape and finish to boot! I hope you don't have a lot of cracking as a lot of the apple I have has cracked and split.

Never turned apple, but after looking at this great bowl, I want to. I hope the rest of the wood turns out as nice.

Wow! Beautiful wood. Nice clean form too. I'd watch those cracks that are forming around the pith in the bottom. Maybe some expoxy mixed with fine shavings would help.
