Something to show a bowls size

I have photographed an 6 inch bowl and a 20 inch bowl and they both look the same size in the photo. I have seen Turners use a quater,dollar bill and many other objects to compare size. A 20 inch bowl is impressive so I am looking to see what others use for comparrison. The big bowls dwarft a six pack but art the art crowd doesn't drink beer.

Also, if alcohol was served at art shows, in my experience, it has always been wine.

Another thing to consider - you know you have the form correct when the viewer is surprised by the size - big or small. So, maybe having a reference is not entirely needed.......

I don't worry about a reference. If you give the size people will be surprised so I don't really think it is needed.

An egg is a typical scale reference device. Everyone has a sense of the size of typical chicken egg. You could turn a scale egg out of wood even.

Fruit, like an apple, works too.

Steve has the right answer. Splurge and buy an expensive bottle of wine, let the label show, and put one of your best bottle stoppers in it.

The Miner household does not have anyone young enough anymore to 'aquire' those items for comparison purposes. But, I have to agree, they are awfully nice items.
