About 2 weeks ago, we discovered a leak in the backflow valve going from the water supply to the pool. We called a plumber and he came out and installed a new backflow valve and new cut off valve.
This week my wife started to add water to the pool and it was leaking like a sieve from the back flow valve. Thinking faulty valve, back he came and took the top off the backflow valve. An asp had gotten up in the valve and was causing the problem.
Since it was my asp (pardon the almost pun), I guess I had to pay the service call again.

If the bug really was an asp, they are actually fairly common in Cental and SE Texas. Used to see a lot of them in the Houston area where I grew up and spent most of my life. Never have been bitten but have known people who have been.

Guess the next time the back flow valve acts up, I will take it apart myself and save the $50.
