Pretty happy as I picked up a 1hp delta stock feeder for my shaper this morning, so I'm excited to give it a try. I've read alot on the setup and am comfortable with most everything except...when raising panels do you still use the feeder on the crosscuts? Some of my raised panels get quite thin, lets say (6" wide) that does not seem like it would be stable with a 5" cutter, correct? I usually cut my thinner crosscuts with a mitre gauge to help keep the panel stable. Suggestions welcome.

Here is how I do them using a continuous fence below the cutter (or spaced up slightly for back-cutter in place). This particular jig is for door edges, but same idea for panels. Also, I think that I took these pics on the wrong side of the feeder for this particular profile, so pay no attention to the profile on the little jig, it is just scrap the same thickness as whatever you are shaping and keeps the narrow part from twisting between wheels. The extra down force from the 1/4" overlapping piece also helps. A larger piece of scrap also gives more control, since you can hold it as it goes through the feeder.
