I saw someone post a VERY nice egg form recently - don't remember who. So I thought I would try and emulate his great work. This is a piece of old, spalted maple (finished with wipe-on poly) sitting on a piece of cherry (spray painted gloss brown). Acceptibly shaped, I guess. Oh - it's hollow. Was hoping the separation line would not show, but it came out a nice visible black. The egg is about 5" long, turned 1/4" walls.

Mike - you did a great job on separating the eeg and keeping the grain aligned! Very nice work!

So, is the egg actually 5' long?

Nice looking egg, Mike! Really nice wood. What do you think it would look like if the base were matte black?

Very nice egg, nice choice of woods and finished very well. Your egg does look familiar.

John, probably better. I was out of black paint, and wanted to get it finished, so...

Nice egg and stand. Mine are smaller and I haven't tried hollowing one yet.

Mike, you have payed me the best complement that anyone can give to a fellow wood turner, buy being inspired from one of their turnings. I Thank you,
