Okay, I don't get the chance to post tool gloats, but I do have a pretty nice gloat...

2010 Dodge Ram 1500 - Laramie Edition

Loaded with just about every option under the sun... including sun roof. Sirius Satellite TV, DVD, heated and cooled leather seats, heated steering wheel, 20" wheels... and of course a HEMI. Not only a HEMI, but a HEMI that turns off 4 cylinders when cruising to save fuel (will get upwards of 30mpg in eco mode). Still not the most 'fuel efficient', but I don't lack for power when I need it.

Oh, and even though sticker on it was $49k, got it for less than $30k because it was a trade in w/ 16k miles on it... someone traded it in for a 1 ton and got it off the lot w/ warranty and hole 9 yards for as much as a new 2wd w/o all the options on it would have been.

I would gloat over $15K. As they say on the ad about the 4 cylinder feature; you can call it a "Semi-Hemi".

Thanks guys it will definately haul... wood or anything else. Now I'm going to have to find me a big stump and try 'er out.

About the "Semi HEMI" I still only get an average of 14.5mpg but I can haul... ummm wood doing it.

Nice truck. I just bought a 2010 F150 Lariat and love it. These ain't your grandpas' farmtrucks anymore, are they?

Nope, Jim they're not. I remember learning to drive a column shift in an old (~'77-'78) Dodge truck, and when they used to talk about power steering... what they really meant is all the power you could muster. They didn't those crank knob on those old trucks for nothing.

Now... heck, this is like driving a caddy, and around here (I'm sure S. Texas isn't much different) a nice truck is more 'affluent' than a caddy in most circles.

My Lariat is more luxiorous than Lincoln town cars of just a few years ago. And, yeah, this is definitely truck country. My east coast raised daughter in law is always amazed at the number of pickups here.

I'm giving away my age but I learned to drive in a '56 Ford p/u, 3 speed on the column.

Well, I just thought I'd add this little bit...

I just went back to work Monday, drove f/ Oklahoma to Shreveport LA w/ a stopover in Tyler, TX. The trip was ~550miles - Average fuel economy (with a 5.7 liter V8 Hemi)... 19mpg. Overall average fuel economy, ~700 m hwy & 500 m city, about 16mpg.

Considering the hauling capacity, that's quite good.

Thats pretty good. My Nissan Frontier 6 cyl gets 15 mpg on average so 16 from a V8 is great.

No offense to dodges, but I did hear that they don't get the gas mileage that they market, and guys that do get good gas mileage are babying it to get it.

From what I've heard from f-150 owners they get around the advertised mileage and they drive it like they stole it.

I am a wee bit impartial to f-150s though since I drive a 2000 f-150 as my daily driver.

Can't kill a Dodge. I am still driving my 1987 Dodge Ram 100 with nearly 230,000 miles on it. One fuel pump at 130,000 miles, tires and two batteries. That's it. Looks rough, needs paint, burns no oil, and gets about 15mpg in and around town. I liked it so much I bought a New Dakota in 2006. Love it, just wish it had a bigger bed. However, My next truck, if these ever die, will be a Ford. Not that Fords are better, but Ford is still part of the free enterprise system.
