I am having some trouble with the installation of the kit (28-984). I have posted at the Delta (Dewalt) website but am hoping to get a faster response here. My problem is with the guard (adjacent to the column). The blade is making contact (rear of the blade) at the lowest point on the guard but clearing by about 1/8 inch at the top. The blade is tracking (manually turned) perfectly, but the back of the blade is rubbing against the guard. My bandsaw is a closed base 1hp that I purchased new in 2002 (model 28-293).
Thanks

If the guard is not obviously slanted relative to the column, then it sounds like your wheels must not be coplanar. Is the blade perpendicular to the table on the front-back plane? That is, if you put a square up to the back of the blade, is it square?

Thanks Matt,
I shimmed the upper wheel and they are now coplanar and no blade contact.

Glad to help. That will make it easier to track different width blades anyway, and make for less adjusting of the thrust bearing moving the guide up and down.
