I sit in awe of a man who has such an amassment of wooden handplanes, though its hard to drool on the plough planes when they're 9' off the floor :D
But what intrigues me is the vise at the end of his bench.
Not the Emmett Patternmakers vise; while I've never seen one in person, its shape and manueverability are easily recognizable.
Its the one on the end of the bench...looks like a leg vise. The picture on the front cover of FWW shows what appears to be a handscrew underneath. The vise itself wraps in a [ shape around the benchtop.
Do you suppose this design allows the vise to be slid sideways along the end of the benchtop? And due to its design allow it to be removed altogether if necessary? How would the bottom of the leg be attached to allow for pivot? Does LeeValley make one? http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Quite interesting device to me. http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowyes.gif
Ok, galoots, your thoughts?
