While in the grocery store today, I picked up a small (6" x 9") bamboo cutting board and thought I would engrave a little saying on it and give to my daughter. She has turned into a pretty good cook. I hardly ever work with wood and never with bamboo. Any setting suggestions to get a good dark mark? I had rather not do color fill since it's a cutting board. I had also rather not use this as an experimental piece - that's the reason I'm asking for your suggested settings. I'll be doing some text and maybe a small, simple design.

I have done a lot of bamboo boards, and find that the settings I normally use for Oak work great. If unfinished you might want to burn through transfer tape, to keep from darkening the edges of the graphic. On my 45 watt it's speed 40 power 100 at 400 DPI.

I've done a lot of bamboo and use the same settings as Joe on my 35w: 40 speed/100 power but I use 600 dpi...no real reason, just do.

cheers, dee

Ive used:

Speed = 500mm/s
Power = 40%
DPI = 300.

This can need more passes depending on the colour / density of the Bamboo.
