Hi All,

I am looking to replace the dust bin I made for my cyclone with an air tight barrel that I can put an extra large trash bag in. Can anyone recommend a source?

Thanks in advance.

Jay

I had to suck it up and buy one from Oneida, they used to do free shipping on orders over $50.

Jay,

You might want to check with salvage or surplus dealers in your area. I bought mine form a salvage guy here for $7. It was originally used for apple juice.

Jay, I have a 40 gal fiber drum that is a little bigger than the 35 gal that came with my Oneida. A cheap 42 gallon trashbag fits perfectly in it, but I had to use a plastic leaf bag insert to keep the air out of the bottom of the bag for it to work well. I got the drum from where I worked at the time for nothing as they were throwing it away. I used it as a good trash can for years and when I got my Oneida, I switched drums for a little more capacity. A 55 gal drum would be better, but the bags are naturally more expensive.

Anyone locally that supplies fiber drums would sell you one. A used one should be fairly cheap as Terry says.
Here is a national supplier, but you should be able to find a local source.

Hi Jay. I bought my fiber drum with metal top and bottom at McMaster and Carr. Check there catalog (http://www.mcmaster.com/) , Page 1568. Warning, because of the size, not weight, the shipping price was rather high.

I checked the local Dallas area, and found a company that sold them, but they would only sell in units of 2. For their price of two, I could get the McMaster&Carr drum delivered to the door. What the heck do you do with a second drum  .

If you can't source something local with a securely locking top (it MUST seal...), you can buy the whole thing from Onieda including a top with an appropriately sized inlet already taken care of.

I bought a plain metal trash can and put a weather strip around the inside of the lid to seal it.
