Here's yet another example of mounting a DD to a Festool vac. I considered several other routes, but settled on this one because it was quick and easy.

The DD for Festool is really nice but too expensive for me.

I thought about building my own version of the systainer-mounted DD using a sys3 or 4, but I was feeling lazy.

I started to cut a piece of ply with a systainer footprint to mount the bucket on my vac, but honestly had no real interest in making it. There are plenty of other things I'd rather spend my time on.

Then I thought of mounting the DD bucket directly to a Systainer 1. I liked this approach for several reasons:
- Relatively cheap
- Very easy (read quick)
- Gives me a place to store loose vac/hose stuff like connectors and bags
- Don't have to fiddle with mounting the systainer to the vac (again, easy)

The only issue I have with this so far is that the hose supplied with the DD is a tad short for this mounting option and the bend into the top of the DD is a little tight.

Oh yeah, as for my impressions of the DD...
- It does work very well
- The materials in the plastic version are pretty cheap (with the exception of the flange used to attach to the bucket top)
- The top of the bucket is quite flimsy. I've read of some people experiencing collapse, and I'm not very surprised. That said, I've had no problems.

Dave, Lowes sells a right angle brush as a shop vac accessory. Buy one, op the brush off, slide one end over your hose and the other end over the top of the DD. A hose clamp will keep it from splitting due to the taper on the DD like mine did. The right angle brush is really just a right angle extension for shop vac hose with a brush snapped on.

Dave, that's an interesting solution. I have a systainer that I got with a bunch of screws from McFeely's that I bet would work. Now I have another task in the shop to add to my list.

We just got into stock the Dust Deputy IN a systainer. Anybody have one that would care to share their thoughts? I put one together on the sales floor but haven't had a chance to screw around with it yet.
