When Robin Costelle visited ahwile back he gave me some maple burl he had picked up. Thanks Robin ! Anyway this is the result. Measures 7-1/4" dia. x 11" tall with a thin blackwood foot, blackwood inset and finial. Finished with brush on lacquer and buffed. Comments/critiques always welcome.

Beautiful piece Keith. Is the finial one piece? Form and finish look great.

Absolutely beautiful work Keith! Love the form - looks almost inflated! Great work on the finial and the mini form captured within it! Nice touch! Amazing detail work on the finial!

You definitely have developed your own recognizable style! Excellent work!

Keith, that is just a beautiful piece!! The light maple color and the blackwood are perfect, the finial is flawless, and fantastic form! Your work is such a real inspiration for me - thanks for posting this one!

On a couple of previous turnings, it appears you have used a blackwood cap, with the (in this case) maple inset from the top, and turned as a unit, with the finial attached. Is this one done that way??

Beautiful. I love the dark markings in the burl that get picked up in the foot, inset, and finial.

That's gotta be about the prettiest HF I've seen, at least until your next one.

Keith, that piece is outstanding in every way. I know nothing about art but I do know what pleases my eye and that piece does it in spades.

Great wood, great form. Nothing else really matters does it.
