I needed some of that 4" flexible hose that stays where you put it, but I didn't want to pay for it.
Luckily, I had one of those flexible plastic gutter downspout extensions hanging around and a funnel-type fitting (you can get them at any hardware store in the roofing supplies aisle). I gorilla-glued them together and glued the other end into a 4" PVC adaptor and attached it to a blast gate. It wasn't a perfect fit, but the gorilla glue expands making everything stiff and airtight. Works great!!
Total cost -- $0.00, but only because I had some hanging around. Normally they're less than ten bucks, I think.
