What do you folks do to keep your metal tool parts nice? I have had humidity problems - even running a dehumidifier - I see small rust spots popping up on my table saw and jointer. I keep my good hand tools inside but can't do that with the big stuff.

Thanks
Betsy

Boeshield T-9. Developed by Boeing to control corrosion on their aircraft. Google it, it's available many places.

Betsy,

Down here in Dampa-Tampa I too use Boeshield.

I keep all mine waxed with Johnson's and when it's a downpour outside sometimes I cover them.

Out here in the rain forest's salt air building boats in open tents, I phosphate blue all my steel tools.

Oxpho-Blue from Brownells.com, a cold blue applied to buffed, degreased steel with a swab followed by burnishing with degreased #000 steel wool, followed by Mobile One oil on a rag. Puts a phosphate coating on the surface so thick that water puddles on it.

Don't look bad, neither, blending previously stained areas nicely.

Thanks guys!

Bob - "Mobile One" oil - certainly that's not the oil you use in car's engine is it?

Thanks

Betsy, you can get the Boeshield T-9 at Woodcraft. Remember, they've moved. Up off I-30 there by BestBuy, across from Ridgmar Mall. Not sure exactly where in that strip center it is, but their latest e-mail gave that location. I've used it , followed by Johnson's paste wax with great results Jim.
