Hey guys. Went walking through the woods looking for antler sheds and came up on this piece of Winged Elm. Brought it home and opened it and found my first spalted piece. Has lots of black and green lines and a few worm holes. Think i'll make a quick trip back and pick up a few more pieces. If anyone is interested in a piece, i'd be willing to swap for something else. It's a NE piece about 8x6 with a few coats of WOP. The shape kinda reminds me of those eagles claws holding the ball. Also picked up a truck load of my first ambrosia maple. Tree service was cutting down a 3ft diameter tree. Picked up the smaller pieces I could handle. All C&C welcome of course!

Kinda reminds me of one of those old antique world maps.

Kevin, that is some awesome looking wood, and you chose a nice form for the "character" of the piece - very nice!

Look forward to seeing some of that Ambrosia! I have several blanks that I have purchased but not cut into yet.

Really nice looking bowl Kevin. I agree with it looking like an old world map. Looking forward to seeing more.

Great looking wood. Turning spalted stuff always reminds me of one of those Forest Gump quotes.
