Congrats Ken!

I too upgraded from a 1/2 hp lathe to the 1624 about a month ago and have really been putting it through it's paces.

I'm quite happy with mine as I hope you'll be with yours!

I think you are going to enjoy this machine. I have been the happy owner of one of these since last October. It was really a step up for me and has made turning even more enjoyable. Good luck and congrats on the new machine!

Mike,

I bought a Nova 1624 in February. I've really been enjoying mine. It is a lot of lathe for the money.

I'm thinking of modifying my tool rest. I will be grinding a radius on the lower side of each end of the tool rest.

Enjoy,,, and turn some bigger wood!!

Congratulations on your new lathe. When your wife sees it in the shop you can say "oh, I've had that for a long time" :D

That is what I have and I really like it. Just lately the screw on the piece that tightens the banjo down has decided to come loose. Guess I will put a little spot of thread lock on it. It a good lathe, I'm glad I got it.

Bought one of those a few years back and upgraded from my Jet mini. You should like it as it opens up the opportunity to acquire even bigger chunks of wood than you could before.

Thanks everyone. I hope it last a long time. I sold my old bass boat to get it. Funny how things change in ones life over time. Wife is glad I sold the old girl and got the lathe.

Congrats on the new lathe! I remember when I upgraded to a 1 3/4 HP motor after having a 1/2 HP motor. What a difference. Have fun!
