Just got an e-mail confirmation for my purchase of a new Powermatic 3520B. This is going to be a nice step up from the Jet 1442VS. Sadly, I'm going to have to sell the 1442. I'll have to figure out how to use the SMC classified section :o

Congrats, you won't be disappointed, keep the camera ready for when it arrives and when you set it up, otherwise it didn't happen.

I had similar feelings when I upgraded from my 1642 to the Mr Mustard. I think it lasted about 5 minutes after getting the bed onto the legs of that beast. My goodness, it's a brute to setup vs the 1642, even with a second pair of hands.

Had my 1642 for exactly one year, so perhaps I didn't have as deep a bond as you may have.

You'll enjoy everything but how tough it is to take the tailstock on/off compared to the Jet. The puck being offset to the inboard side allows greater 'hang-off' of the tailstock, but at a sacrifice to ease of installing.

Take a look at this post from a week ago for some ideas on easing that pain...if you hadn't seen it.

I ordered the Mustard Monster 3520B at noon last Monday and it's due to arrive tomorrow, just three days later. I've got some cleaning to do ...lol

Another big thumbs up for Tool Nut.

Ken,

I made the exact same upgrade. You'll be amazed by the lack of noise by the head compared to the Jet...the only sound is air being cut by flat spots. One suggestion is the dust hood that Powermatic sells...worth the money.

ENJOY!!!!
