I've turned some maple with a green heartwood, which makes me wonder if this isn't that. Anyway, about 6" wide by 2.5" high. Has a foot of cherry I ebonized with the vinegar mix, as this bowl was a paper-thin layer of wood from becoming a funnel . Happened to me with another piece this weekend, unfortunately. 2 wheel buffed and reaissance waxed, as usual. Sorry (again) for the bad photos - I'll get a booth made one day, but who has the time? :o

Pretty chunk of wood. A lot of the maple I've seen around here has a greenish heartwood, so that doesn't rule it out IMO.

Now, get to work on that photo tent:D

Mike, some very nice color and grain in that piece, and I like the end result!

Nice bowl Mike. Don't need no stinkin' photo tent. Just use a couple layers of old white sheet as your background. It will make a difference.
