View Full Version : Flourescent UV darken red oak? How quickly?

I built and finished sanded some panels for cabinet doors. The doors were left in the flourescent illuminated garage for a week before finish was applied. The doors appear significantly darker than doors previously built and finished from the same red oak material. Same can of finish was used on both door sets. I assume the darkening was caused by the UV content of the flourescent lights. Is this assumption correct?

Has anyone else had a similar experience? How quickly does the wood darken? Could I have cured the problem with another light sanding with say 320 grit? Is there another way to correct the problem?
