Floating shelves

I'm looking to build floating shelves anywhere from 18 to 24" in length . I have some poplar 3/4" 8' boards that I want to use. Any one have some plans out there.:eek:

I don't have any plans but I have built some similar to the ones in the link to Woodsmith. I usually put a 1x4 at the back, shelf on top, and then crown mold and various trim under the shelf. I guess that's not really floating because of the 1x4. I have a key bit for my router and put some hanger holes in on 16" centers.

That's great. I haven't built any yet but am always drawn to them. Like chimney cupboards; I just like them, I don't know why. I have no room for either so I may just have to find a likely victim and build something for them. Glad it helped. :)
