This slimline was made from scrap lumber designated for the dumpster. It is 4 x 4 wood that they stack the cabinet grade lumber on to ship. All these 4 x 4 are heart wood so you don't know what you have until you cut and run them through the planner. We've gotten Oak, Cherry, Hickory, Maple and Walnut ... all heartwood

Spalted Cherry Burl dressed in Copper kit.

This is a really nice pen. I have also salvaged lumber. Sometimes there can be some extremely beautiful wood from those sources.

Great looking pen Ron. I got to learn how to make the full length wood barrel.

Thanks All ... I have more coming my way. Some really awesome looking Black Walnut Burl.

Nice pen but where is the twist part of the pen?
Donny
Donny, you twist the nib to extend and extract the ink.

You do not glue the lower barrel into the wood, it floats in there.

Press the nib into the lower barrel and the transmission and then the whole assemble slips into the blank from the bottom.
