Tabasco Wood???

I was collecting wood today, found a stump piece with a lot of curl in it, didn't recognize the bark, but I cut the piece off to get a better look at the wood and curl.
The shavings smell like Tabasco Sauce. The wood looks a little like a cross between light mahogany and ash.

No idea what it is but sure has some nice curl! Looking forward to seeing what you turn out of it!

I roughed out a piece and it's soft and stringy... I may not even finish it, definitely not going to go out of my way to get more.

Was it stringy like some box elder can be?
