I have a few of the older Bridge City layout tools and some of them have a greenish black corrosion on the brass. I've tried to use fine sandpaper to remove it but some of it is difficult to remove without getting into the manufactured wood inlays. Does anyone have a clean method of removing this corrosion and then keeping it away?

I have had success with using some brass polish with a clean rag and then some paste wax for my older BC tools. Natural oils from your skin will discolor brass with use. They used to sell some kind of cleaner for their tools that may still be available. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll look for the brass cleaner.

Autosol - faster than most brass polishes over here, less of a pain to use, but just as good of a polish. About 10 bucks. It works on anything, and if you have any brass around the house that you polish from time to time (we did that when I was a kid, I don't know if anyone does it anymore, though), it's great to swap out the other polishes to use it - cuts the polishing time way down.
