Looking for a source for an 1 1/4" spindle tap. Found one at Craft Supply for $28.99 plus shipping. Is this a good one or are there better options.
Thanks.

George - I am sure a lot of places carry the taps. I got mine here: http://www.hartvilletool.com/product/12719

I think the Beall taps are the only ones I've seen. Several vendors carry them. I have (and have used) the 1-8 tap and just bought the 1 1/4" (from craftsupply) for my new lathe but have not used it yet.
Woodcraft also carries the Beall tap. Lee Valley carries a tap, not sure if its the Beall or their own brand. All are within a few dollars of each other, so I would say to buy from whoever you want to give the business to.

I just bought the Beall 1 1/4-8 from WC for around 27 bucks! I checked around for pricing through non wood type suppliers on the same size and thread and found em up to $130.00!

I also use the Beall spindle taps and have had very good luck with them. They seem to be very well made which is probably why so many people carry them.
I have a review of the Beall Taps that I use at the link below with photos and a video if that would help.
