Anyone own one of these planers or know a little about them? I have a chance to pick one up for $425 in good condition but know nothing about it. Any info will help. How much are blades, 2 or 3 cutters, 110 or 220, are parts available? Thanks for the help.

I've heard good things about it, worth the money. Blades are expensive though, several hundred a pair, but they last a long time.

I use a ridgid planer now but also have a boxed dw735 that I havent opened yet. Is that hitachi a better planer than these two or should I stick with what I have?

If you already have a dw735, I would not spend the money. The dw is a good planar, just the knives wear out quickly, however, the newer knives may be better and there are aftermarket knives which are reportedly good.

I've owned one for years. It's had so much use that I had the local Hitachi west coast factory service center overhaul it at least once, and it works as well today as it did when I first bought it. It takes standard 12" knives, which are not particularly expensive. It is extremely well made, durable, and accurate. As far as I am concerned, its heavy cast iron construction far exceeds what I have seen from Dewalt, Rigid, et al. If I could ever find another, I would buy it as a back up. Now if they only made a 15" or larger version!
