I have been using a HD bucket for the mini cyclone and as has been stated they crack after awhile.

Well I found a new bucket to use and it is really nice. It is a bucket that holds 100 lb. of granulated chlorine for swimming pools. the bucket is a good 3 time thicker then an HD bucket. It is 22 inches high and 16 inches in diameter, the lid screws on and has a lock tab on it. I am not sure on how many gallons it would hold but I would think 15 or better.

So if you have a swimming pool company around go by and see if they have one they are trashing, that is were this one came from, the dumpster.

FYI, I have found that restaurant pickle buckets, tend to be thicker and the same size as the five gallon HD buckets.

I am working on a similar setup and found a STEEL drum with removable lid. It is 15 1/2" diameter and is 22 1/4" tall (16 gallon capacity). I did not get it free, had to pay $8.00 for it, but felt it was well worth it.

When I get my setup completed, I will post a picture.

Great tip Bill. I am often surprised when someone comes up with a clever use for objects I have ignored in the past.

Thanks Bill. My bucket is flimsy, I didn't know that there was a better bucket. There aren't many swimming pools in my area of Michigan but I will look for a heavier bucket now that I know that they exist.

Professional house painters get paint in nice 5 gal buckets too. I grabbed four or five when we had our house painted.

Your friendly water and sewage treatment plant employee will have access to those nice chlorine buckets.

I used a left over 5 gallon drywall mud bucket, which is heavier duty than the Home Depot bucket.
