Anyone know how to do this? I remember putting it on with only a few taps, but I don't know how to remove it. Any tricks out there?

Thanks in advance for your response.

Jay,

Was it a drill chuck with a male fitting to slip into the DP headstock? Or was it a drill chuck with a female fitting to slip over the DP headstock spindle?

On many DP's, there will be a slot in the spindle that you can drive a wedge shaped piece into that will free up the drill chuck.

If it's the other way around, you can cut some hardwood wedges and drive them between the spindle and drill chuck to knock it loose.

Make sense?

If its a morse taper spindle, you can use a ball joint fork (know any auto mechanics?) with a tyne on each side of the spindle. Insert the fork at the top of the chuck and give it a few taps with a mallet. The chuck should slide off easily.
Hope this helps
