Bernie's wonderful gloat reminded me of this photo of my grandsons wraping a pen for their dad.

John, the 3 1/2 year old, wanted to make a pen for his dad for Christmas. We used the small metal lathe so he could turn cranks and not hold sharp tools. He did the turning of a very straight bodied pen. I glued sand paper to wooden handles that he could hold against the pen without getting too close, and I held his hands for the finishing. When it came time to assemble it, John lost interest in the project and his younger brother took over, with a lot more help from grandpa.
Bernie, enjoy him while he is young and still wants to play with grandpa. They grow up too fast.
