Wow, that's pretty wood. The box elder is almost entirely flame, and the maple has some great lines in it.

I'm not crazy about the ribs near the writing end as they drive me crazy when holding a pen for a long period of time, but a lot of people really like them. The contrasting wood band on the third pen looks a little awkward to me, but it's an interesting idea.

Looks like a fun day of turning.

Nice work, Donny. I am drawn more to the spalted maple, though the box elder certainly has the color. How did you like turning the holly? The pieces I have turned have really been enjoyable. Very easy wood to turn, though the endgrain can be hard to get a good smooth cut on. Need a really sharp tool.
