I've been asked to put 8 or 9 of my bowls in a high end Gallary in the fall. This will be one of the bowls I put there. It is 9" in dia and between 3/16" to 1/16" thick from top to bottom. The opening is 1 1/4". Wood is Maple, finish is many coats of Deft buffed to a shine that made taking a photo very hard.

It's a beautiful piece, but I certainly wouldn't call it a "bowl."

That's really nice! It has the "high end" look to it. I hope you do well in the gallery.

Beautiful piece Jack. That grain sure has a 3D look to. You fell like you can almost see inside...Bill..

Very pretty Jack. Nothing wrong with one hot spot to show the gloss and one shadow to show some depth. Beautiful work.

Jack, Nice hollow form with great color and finish. I have items in three galleries, but I am not sure they are high end, just high traffic! Lots of people through the doors and mostly tourists so they like to spend money. I hope you do well with your works in the gallery!

What constitutes high end, a bigger street #?

Jeff

Jack, I have no idea what sells, though I suspect the "different" stuff does best. This one is unique and should do well. Very nice piece and beautifully done!

Jack,

That is gorgeous.

Yea, photographing stuff with a high shine is a bear but your photo came out great. I don't know if it is possible to not have at least one hot spot.

Good luck on sales. Hopefully the economy will get turned around.

Exquisite Jack!

Is it spray Deft or brush on?

That gets nicer each time I look at it. I'm sure it looks even better in person!

Absolutely stunning! Your finish adds so much depth to the piece that a fellow could get lost in there. Would love to see more pics from other sides. That wood is gorgeous.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. I hope to put one of the nested oak burl sets as well as a cherry burl set I did last year.
Thanks Again,
Jack

So how do you bowl with it when it only has one hole? :p Beautiful wood presented in a wonderful form. +1 on the 3D effect - my favorite aspect of the piece. Would you give us a run down on your finishing? Product (which deft product), application, how did you buff, sanding, etc.

Thanks for sharing!
