Nothing out of the ordinary but thought I would post them for you all to look at. The first group of Sierra pens have a blank which consists of wire insulation sleeving cast in clear poly resin.

The second groups is just some lacy acrylic blanks on some Sierra kits. They were spun and then polished with a plastic polish. Thanks for looking.

Nice looking pens, John. You've really got the casting thing down.

Very nice John!

What are you using to cast them?

I had a recent request for a couple pens.

I cast them in a poly resin clear. I use Silmar41

John, you make some of the most interesting pens! Simply excellent work and choice of materials.

Seems keeping the material "straight" when cast, such that the pattern of the sleeving doesn't get twisted, would be tricky.

On the braided pens,

Are they pre colored or did you spray them? Where do you find it?

A very manly look that guys/customers with a mechanical background can really appreciate.

While I always like your braided pens, I am really drawn to the others this time. Did you cast these yourself? They don't look store bought.

Very well done on all of the pens.

Brian, thanks for the kind words. Yes I casted the braided wire sleeving material in clear poly resin to make the blanks. The bottom acrylics are store bought and I got those at Bear Tooth Woods. They have a few other colors too in that style. When using these acylic blanks I like to paint my tubes either white or match a color to the blank itself.

I did not spray them. They come precolored. I use various sources for the materials I have been casting. I got the colored wire sleeving from here. http://www.cabletiesandmore.com/BraidedSleeving.php You may have to ask to see the colors they offer because I do not see their color chart any more on the site.
