I finished the pierced poplar bowl making use of the suggestion by Steve Schlumpf. I used a wood burner and burned the inside edge of the piercings. Beall buffed with renaissance wax.

I think the burning gave it a much better look appeal.Great idea.

Steve, I think this was a major improvement. Just makes the first impression one of depth and more going on with the bowl. Nice touch!

Much better Steve, it certainly highlights the piercings, but not over-done. Nice finish also.

It's a nice looking bowl, but I'm going against the crowd here... I liked it better before the burning was done. I'm obviously in the minority on that point, but that's my .02.

Have to agree with David; I liked it better before the burning also. The burned edges detract from the look of the piece, methinks.

Steven,
I liked it before and I like it even better now. Great job.

Gee Steve, Here I go to all that work to remove the black that's created when I use my very high speed drill for piercing. Makes almost as much smoke as my pyrography pens do.

Experimenting with different ideas is what keeps woodturning interesting for many of us. Keep it up....

I like it! Liked it before also! Agree with Wally - it's the experimenting that keeps everything interesting!

Looking forward to seeing what you turn next!

That is a beauty Steven. Experimenting is half the fun.
