This is my first spoon carving. I think this might be my first project to post here also. It is basswood and at the time this pic was taken it has only been painted with BLO/Min.Spirits mixture (50/50). I will seal it with Briwax when it is dry. Thanks for looking.

Very nice!
Did you have someone in mind when you made it?

Mike

Thanks, Mike. No I didn't have anyone in particular but thought I might give it to my wife's mother since I have never carved anything for her. She has 3 children including my wife so it would have some meaning with the 3 hearts on the handle. :)

Mike,
I am sure she will love it - and you will get many brownie points too!

Very nice work,
Mike

Mike - that's a really great spoon. I carve them, too, after turning (most of them, anyway) the handles on my lathe. They are mostly utilitarian, too - not artistic, like yours. Great gift!

Well done and a great gift,,, the fourth heart that made the spoon isn't hidden either...

Very nice work...spoons are on my "to do" list...I have a couple of black walnut splits set aside for them...

Thanks for all the kind comments, guys. Mother in law was tickled to get the spoon.
