Have been using up some Brazilian Hardwood scraps, so I thought a tea box or two would be of interest. Brushed lacquer, tung oil, and buffed.

Pretty wood. I like these tea boxes... The second lid is a nice surprise when the outer lid is removed.

what does the second lid do, i mean, is it essential to be called a tea box, or is it just something you wanted to do. i am interested in what a tea box is, because someone asked me to make them one. yours looks great by the way.

Nice job, Dan. I like the style, color and finish. When you say Brazilian hardwood, what species are you referring to? I know nothing of the exotics.

Very cool. Is that an o ring on the inner lid? Looks good.

I believe this box is Brazilian Walnut. Very hard and dense; has quite a smell to it when you are turning it. Dulls tools quite fast. Pretty popular wood in the flooring business. Periodically, flooring companys like Lumber Liquidators sell their pallet wood for a song; makes for a good supply of exotics, you never know what they will include- square stock, flat stock, etc
