It's funny how something can go bad when you are so close to being finished....
My little cherry bowl was done except for cleaning up the foot.
Cut it down to the size I wanted and decided to do a little detailing on it.
I knew I didn't have a lot to play with on the bottom but....

Ended up with a cherry funnel instead of a cherry bowl.

At least I got some shop time today.
Hope everyone is having a good Easter!

Nice looking Cherry bowl! Now just turn a matching pedestal and you are all set!

You are correct, Gary. That is a very nice funnel!

Much prettier than the funnels I've made.

Gary,

I've made a funnel or two myself. Just get a sink stopper and call it art.

Just taper the hole inward a little and turn a matching or contrasting patch that is also tapered to match and glue it in. Use a round nose scraper to level the patch and you're in business. I have done that too many times! But I saved every one of them. ......Ron

Very nice finish on the funnel, Gary!!:D;) If you are going to make one, do it with style - and, you did.

I have a friend who works as a shrink. She told me one day that when she said to a patient that he should look at what he was going through as an "opportunity", he said "Oh great. Just what I need. Another #$%&! opportunity!"

I've done a few myself but none of my funnels looked half as good as yours!...Bill..

Epoxy a coin in the bottom and call it a change bowl.

Epoxy a coin in the bottom and call it a change bowl.

Now that's clever !!

Don't ya just hate it when you have to take that one final cut and usually bad words follow. Of course I have never did that.:rolleyes:;) Turn a pedestal for it and go.

Got a lot of feasable suggestions to go with. Extremely nice funnel, it absolutely needs to be saved. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

I always get a little tense when nearing the final touches on a turning as that is when things go wrong.
Looked good up to that point.

I like where you were headed with the rim detail. You should turn something to plug the whole and complete it, its a great piece really!!

I did the same and found a silver/gold coin and glued it to the hole-- the wife like it!

Gary, don't forget - you have some 1.5" medallions like the ones you sent me. One of those in the bottom would be neat.

You guys are giving him lots of patch ideas. In my experience a patch always looks like a patch so I would keep it for the next time I need to use a funnel. Put is where it also serves as a reminder to not get too thin in the bottom.
