Norma Henderson R.I.P.

My wife and life partner of forty years passed away this morning. Norma lived a life filled with lots of love given and received, and many close friends.

The problem is that by the time I took up woodworking we had a house full of furniture. Norma used to say that I should have started this when we were first married and didn't have anything.:)

But, of course, I didn't have the time, space, or money to do woodworking back then.

I did build a few things she wanted, especially a table (http://www.mikes-woodwork.com/ExpandingTable.htm)and chairs for the kitchen, but it was starting to get to the point where, if I made anything else, she was going to throw it out the door.

Mike, I woke up at 5 AM today to check on a roof leak that I discovered yesterday morning. Water had dammed up in a leaf blocked gutter that drained back onto the roof. High wind had blown it up and past the flashing. I was pretty bummed both yesterday and this morning.

After reading of your loss, I am both saddened for you and humbled. Suddenly, I can't begin to imagine how I had let a wet carpet ruin my day.

Thoughts of you and Norma will be with me for some time to come.

Thank you all for your kind words. Norma had been ill for quite a long time. At first, the illness was not severely life limiting - she was able to continue to function fairly normally and enjoy her friends and activities. But as time went on, she became much more limited in her activities and needed a lot more help, and there were a lot of painful medical procedures over that time.

I miss her enormously. We "shared" the details of our lives in our conversations. I already find myself wanting to ask her advice about things, or of wanting to just share what I did.
