I have been trying to get a really robust router table lined up and think if I buy the Bench Dog gear with a nice lift to boot I will be in router table heaven..

How about a decent inverted pin router instead?

If bought used, I am at the sameish price point. I get the speed, iron table and "lift" right off the bat. I will need to work out a fence but the dedicated pin will come in handy.

Anyone go this way how are the results?

I have an over head router with the pin in the table. The table can accept a router, (but not a lift) and a pin can be used up top, if needed. But, my router table is far superior as to ease of use and precision.
If you can justify them, get both.
