Finally got around to assembly and finish of my first try at a kitchen cabinet. Kentucky COffeetree - no stain - wipe poly only.

Made lots of mistakes but the wife is pleased with it.

Good job Glenn... that coffee-tree has some wild grain. I have never had the distinction of seeing any until just recently when someone used it.

Coffee Tree!? Nice - like a cross between Pine and Oak. Really nice!

I'm taking on my kitchen right now too - so I feel your pain!

It is almost as hard as Sugar Maple - 1490 Janka. The lumber was cut and stored 20 - 25 years ago. The grain is hard to see until it is run through the planer. I have 400 BDFT of 4/4 (really closer to 5/4) and 100 BDFT of 8/4.

Ther first one I did was from 2 boards so I did not really pick and choose the best grain for the rails and stiles. Now the real process begins and I will be sizing enough boards so I can do a better grain pattern for the rails and stiles.
