My wife is into the fiber arts and I made her a niddy noddy. Does anyone know what a niddy noddy is? It is a practice in spindle turning. She is very happy with the end result!

Joe - that looks great! My wife is a knitter but hasn't gotten into the spinning portion yet! Your wife must have been thrilled with this!

Very nice work! Thanks for sharing!

Looks like a good job. Roy Underhill did a show on them for 'The Woodwrights Shop'.

A niddy noddy is used by spinners to measure lengths of yarn.

It is either wound on a noste pinde, or a ball winder. Or, it can be skeined.

Nice turning. Looks like a very thin spindle and I bet it was a challenge!

Niddy noddys go really well with doo dads and whatchamacallits.

Not as fancy but drop spindles are fun to make and appreciated by your fiber artist friends.

niddy noddy, kind of reminds me of another word, ganunk.
If you dont have a measuring cup and you need to measure liquid coming out of a bottle you can count the ganunks, ganunk, ganunk, ganunk....lol
