I have uploaded a new video series to Youtube. This one is about re-turning a roughed out honey locust crotch winged bowl. The playlist is available at: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=930F33732DA84BD1

Take care
Bob

Bob,
I just finished watching your video and I thank you. Couldn't have come at a better time as I am about ready to attempt a similar piece from Osage Orange. One question, how do you go about establishing centers when first starting a project like this? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, all!

Richard, the bowl was roughed out last June. I am lucky to be able to remember how I did something yesterday.... :D I can't remember if I held a disk up to the blank and moved it around until I was happy with the placement or if I tried to find the center of mass by tying to balance the blank on my finger until I found the spot that was the least "tippy". I start turning rough outs between centers so I can shift the tail center around if I need to in order to get the orientation I want.

Take care
Bob
