this is a teak bowl, very simple but the first bowl that i actually got to finish with out coming off the lathe...and flying past me... so it has a certain meaning to it..lol

You will also have to escuse some of my finishing methods... i am playing wround with lacquer and sanding sealers, teak oil, tong oil, wipe on poly.. you dont know what it is like till you try so i am trying..lol

Karl, looks like you have a whole herd of turnings "in progress!" All of them seem to be coming along nicely, and I particularly like the teak bowl. I have played with different finishes as well, and seem to have settled into a couple I like. It certainly is different than flatwork!!

Steve, I dont have heat in the shop so it has been a really depressing winter. Now with it turning warm sometimes I have a real problem trying to get "that feeling" with a good temperature. I tell my wife that she doesnt understand that I cant just go to the shop and work... I have to be in a certain mood or nothing comes together... I still have to finish these but so far at least we are on the way... Thanks very much for your comments.

Here is a redo on the walnut bowl. By the way I bought these blanks listed as walnut but are they regular walnut or black walnut or??? I havent been around walnut enough as most of my wood is imported.

Very nice turnings Karl. The teak is very nice. Must have been torture on your tools. That walnut is awesome, fiddleback Claro?

Karl, Sometimes if you just go sit in the shop, the mood will come to you.

Nice work. I turned miniature bat for my son, and he loves to run around the back yard smashing things with it.

I, too, have been on winter furlough, but spring is coming which means I'll be making curls again soon.:)

I will have to remember that... One of the other things for me is also that I cannot have fun in a dirty shop... and right now mine is under construction but I did clean up enough to get to my two lathes...
