clearest finish

i'd like to hear about what kind of finish you all use that is very clear, does not darken wood or yellow (much) with time. i have some spalted holly i'd like to keep as white as possible.

Mike - I have had pretty good luck with water based poly and those few items that I used it on years ago are still clear.

Also just started using brush-on lacquer and it is also very clear but I do not know how well it ages.

I use brush on lacquer. It has stayed clear now for a little over a year. I have a couple of pieces with water based poly on them and like Steve over a year and still clear. Rattle can Deft lacquer also stays real clear. I have several pieces 3 yrs old that still are clear and haven't yellowed.

As above, water based will keep it clearest.

Another vote for WB poly. I've sprayed Target Coatings SC9000 over white paint with no color shift.

"Diamond" water based poly is just the ticket; stays nice and clear.
