Greetings,

I just completed this project for a friend. He has built himself a wing ding workbench in beech and wanted vice handles to match :)

The brass accents where a detail he saw on the Lie Nielsen site. The speed knob is macassar ebony. Missing in the photo are the rubber o-rings. One coat of natural oil so far...

The speed knob is attached with a bolt and insert nut, the knobs are attached with 3/8" dowels. In hindsight they could have been attached with rod and insert nuts also to allow for changing of the o-rings...

BTW, I used double sided tape to sandwich the 1/8" brass bar stock between 1/8" baltic ply before rough cutting the diameters on the scroll saw, then turned them to finished size.

Very nice looking handles... I'm sure he's very happy with them as he should be.

Don, very nice! Getting a consistent diameter is tricky, and you did a fine job here - nice touch with the brass!!

Thank you very much gentlemen for the comments.

I'd be embarrased to show what I put on my bench oh so many years ago :)

Cheers, Don

That looks to be the perverbial "Top Drawer". Brass really sets it off.
