My medium pet urn made from walnut and cherry with Tung oil finish then buffed on the Beall.
Inside diameter is 3.5" x 6.5" roughly 62 cubic inches, 1 cubic inch = per pound of weight, Will hold up to a 60 lb pet, always round down so there no left over ashes. wall thickness 1/8 inch and 1/4 inch on bottom. All comments welcomed.

Nicely done. Really like the final. Just hope you don't have to use it and my condolances if you do.

Really pleasing form! I am curious - do you make these to sell?

yes John i do make them to sell. first it was for just a couple of friends but word of mouth spread now i try to keep a few different sizes on hand and i will be passing out cards to our local animal hospitals just to see where that goes. below is one of my large urns may hold up to 100 lb pet.

Jeff, Beautiful urns.

Stupid question: I am wondering how you calculate / measure the volume of a urn?

Hey Mark, fill the urn with rice, pour it out into a measuring cup and then measure how much you've got. I actually have "shop rice" for this purpose which occasionally gathers shavings. :)

Jeff, the second one you posted is very nice as well - really nice color on the walnut. I probably like the style of the first one as well.

Interesting product - may have to give that some thought as retirement approaches, and I consider ways to offset the cost of the vortex!

Jeff, both of these urns are very well done, I can't seem to come up with a favorite. I would think that they would sell themselves if you were able to display a couple @ the animal hospitals. Best of luck Jeff.

Mark there are to different ways i measure my urns. the rule of thumb is 1 cube inch per pound of weight for pet and human.

1.) is to take a average across the urn, in this case of my medium urn is 3.5 inches across and the height is 6.5 inches on the inside. take the 3.5" divide by 2 = 1.75, hope you can follow my math.
1.75 x 1.75 = 3.0625 x 3.149 (pi)= 9.6438125 x 6.5 (height) = 62.68 cubic inches rounded down to 60 cubic inches.

2.)some urns styles like my large urn, being a lot larger at the base than the top its hard to use the math, so i measure out cups of rice and pour into the urn. large urn was able to hold 7 cups of rice which using a cubic inches to cup chart (link below) 6.92 cups = 100 cubic inches

hope this helps you, also the only stupid question is the one not asked. good luck.
