View Full Version : Happy Spring!

Happy first day of spring everyone. It's going to be a grand day here, 77 and sunny. Many of our trees are in full flower, the azaleas are starting to bloom, the sand gnats are out (okay, that's not such a good thing). The only slight drawback is that the pine trees are loaded with pollen this year. I can look forward to a few weeks of allergy issues, but that is a small price to pay. :)

And to you also Missy.
It's just after 9am here, and there is less than 5 hours of winter left. A snow storm is marching across Michigan as I type this. :)

Der little wings is on de boid!

For 20 bonus points, (and no Google help) where's this from? The first three lines are spoken by a famous character in the movies and later on TV.

Belinda,

Let's see some of those beautiful flowers in bloom! We have actually been having great weather here in the frozen tundra, a bit chilly today but no snow coming down...yeeeeeeha!

Happy 1st day of spring everyone!
Phyllis:)

We've celebrated spring with another 6" snowfall (2nd this week) and a 20-30 degree drop in temperature. I know this is chicken feed for those of you in the real cold belt areas but NM is supposed to be semi-arid - right?

We got about 2" overnight. The sun is out now so it won't be around for long.
Good old New Mexico spring tease, 70 one day and snowing the next...

It's 10:35am and 31 degrees outside. Yesterday 65 and sunny.

I just took a break from painting Phyllis. I wish I was outside today but I have to get the condo painted before the 31st. If I get out later this afternoon I'll snap some pics. If not today, Monday. 70% chance of rain tomorrow.

Red Skelton?

Bugs Bunny said the first few lines. The entire poem is sometimes attributed to Ogden Nash, but he never confessed.

Perfect day for the first day of spring, sunny, no wind, and already 65 before noon. I can't remember a nice day like this in mid-April before in our 17 years here.

Mowed the lawn last week. A lot of trees are budding and the early bloomers (crabapple, redbud, some peaches) are blooming.

An inch and a half of rain last night, wind 30-40 mph from the north, a little blowing snow and the thermometer hasn't been above 30 today.

Happy Spring! :rolleyes::mad:

Norris,

Yellow is my favorite color making this picture perfect! We don't usually plant flowers/gardens around here until after memorial day.

Yeah, Happy Spring! It's 33.4 degrees here, and spitting snow.:confused::confused: I guess we had our first day of Spring yesterday. 72 and mostly sunny. What can change in a day! Jim.

The daffy's are peeking up
The forsythia are hinting at yellow
The potholes are in full bloom

Cheers

The neighbors beautiful saucer magnolia that bloomed last week has a certain charm covered with 4 inches of snow we got last night in western Arkansas. Unusual to get any snow here at all and we've had 3 good(?) snowfalls this year.

We were 70 Friday and had horizontal snow yesterday. You Northerners would laugh at calling what we got a blizzard. The ground is warm enough that the roads are driveable today. This is the first time I can remember this much snow this late since about 1968.

Apparently so does Ted, if only so he can critique them. LOL . . . I left out a comma, so sue me. At least now I know what color to paint Phyllis.

My first day of spring was cold and windy. Went shopping for a replacement for my daughter's Mom-I-hit-a-dog-and-it-DIED-and-now-I-am-brokedown-can-you-come-get-me-and-get-my-car-towed?-car.

You know a dedicated salesman when he walks out and hands you his card, shows you the sticker price and says "this is what I will take do you want it?" before he even shakes your cold, cold hand. We did not take his offer, but we were glad we didn't have to waste any time.

So Happy Spring! My foot! ;)

ps all contributions to the car fund cheerfully accepted :p

Phyllis,

These are daffodils, they are bulbs that stay in the ground year round.

Morning Belinda. As a former resident of Albany, GA, I am very familiar with the sand fleas. As for the pine, azaleas, dogwoods-they are giving my sinus system a real workout. Glad to see spring after the winter we have seen in the east.
