Welcome to the Creek.......

I would do a search on the DW745, there are 17 pages of post that talk about it.

Can't tell you much about the 745 but I have a 744 and I love it. I really like the rack and pinion fence.

I got one a year 1 1/2 ago as a job site saw. Its light, great fence, good dust control, (when hooked up to a vac.) and has enough power to rip 2x material. I removed the the guard and modified it to a riving knife, thanks to Gary Katz. DeWalt redesigned the guard on the current saws so that parts can be removed to end up with a riving knife with out destroying guard system. All in all I think the saw works well, especially when combined with a track saw to bust up panels.
