This is the last of the projects that I have turned so far with my burl score. Normally I will look a piece of wood and see what I can turn it into, but went to my stash with winged bowl on my mind. First container I opened found this piece, knew it was the right one.:D First pic was taken before I went home for the day, wrapped a bag around it and finish turned it the next day. Let it sit for a week did a little more sanding then tung oil BLO mix with wipe on poly as a top coat.

John, this piece has a real organic and rustic character, enhanced by the form you have given it. You brought out the best in this piece of wood!

I'm glad to see this piece because I have been roughing out more blanks this evening and ran upon some that I thought were kindly unusable but I see now that I was wrong. I will have to go back through the pile of cherry that I tossed aside and just give some pieces a chance. Your piece came out very good. It's a good inspiration. Thanks for posting it.

That's a good looking bowl. I'll bet it sounded like the lathe was about ready for take off when that thing was spinning!

Really nice looking bowl. I agree with Curt that had to sound like standing next to a plane prop.

Nice looking piece, and it looks like it was an exciting turn at the lathe. I like the rustic look to the wood.

John,

I to like the organic and NE pieces. My only comment would be on the finish. I think it's a little to shiney for the piece. I know photos really kick up the shine, but a satin finish would be more appealing to my eye. Just my two cents. Nice work on the form.

Wow that looks really great John. I'm not sure I have guts to take on something like that yet.
