Since work has been slow, it has been a good time to remodel my bathrooms. It started out just with the hall bath, ended up gutting both bath rooms and starting from scratch.

Both vanities are built with alder. It was all left over from jobs that didnt want knots. I actually like the knots and checks, so I would save board that I thought looked nice.

The mirrow was finished the same way as the vanity, then sprayed black and sanded through the black to show the red again.

That is some beautiful work. I have lived in apartments smaller than your bathroom ;-)

Nice work on both projects...seems to me with work like that you would never have a "slow" time!

Thanks for posting the various angle shots of the work.

You better find some more work soon or SWMBO may have you ripping out the kitchen. Beautiful cabinet work, I especially like what you did on the mirrors. The whole project is classy.

Awesome job on those vanities. I always liked that style of door on the Master vanity you did. I was wondering if you could explain or post a link to how to do doors like that.

Jay, Very nice they both look impressive and well done. I particularly like the stain/finish you have on the hall bathroom vanity. Will you tell us what you used?

Can you tell me how you made the panel door and drawer face for the darker cabinet. What router bit and mouldings did you use to build up the panel in the middle?
Thanks
Mike

Thanks Bruce, The remodels seemed like they took forever, about 2 1/2 months. I had a guy do all the demo, drywall and painting work. I laid all the tile, trim and the vanities.

I had 4 days in each of the bath room vanities from start to finish. Most of them were long days.

Thanks Jeff, the doors are just regular raised panel doors, with an applied molding. When Im doing a door like this, I use 3" frame stock. The molding is an astragal shaper cutter I have, and I simply rip one of the coves off. After the door is finish sanded, I miter the molding, glue and 23 ga. pin them to frame. I leave about 1/8" of the flat showing before starting the molding. I can shot a close up if this doesnt make sense.

Very nice work, Jay!! And, they seem to fit well in the overall "re-do" - nice pics, too.

Great detail work and finish!

Excellent job on the kitchen and outstanding job on the vanity with the detail. Both cases you handled the finish on alder as well as I have seen it handleds. Knots... I was enthralled enough with the detail "I didn't see no stinkin' knots". ha.. ha... ha..ha..ha..

Extremely well done...

Thanks Jay, sorry it took so long to get back. I do understand I believe could you tell me what profile raised panel bit set you used though and also if i understand correctly it is rile and style not mitered frames only the applied molding is mitered is that correct. Also does the applied molding need rabbeted to set on the panel and the rail and stiles or is it only on one or the other. Thanks for your help Jay it is greatly appreciated.

You really do nice work, Jay.

I like the finishing idea you used on the mirror. That's a nice special touch!
